BIBLE TRIP · YOUR INFORMATION
Privacy Policy
Who we are
Bible Trip (“we”, “us”) provides a mobile Bible reading app and this website. We are the data controller for the information described here.
Contact: support@venaapps.com.
Information we collect
We collect only what the app needs to work:
- Account details — your name, email address and a securely hashed password, created when you sign up. We never store your password in readable form.
- Email verification codes — a temporary six-digit code is emailed to you at sign-up. We store only a cryptographic hash of it, and it expires after ten minutes.
- Your reading plan — the book or plan type you chose, translation, duration, how many readings per day and your reminder times.
- Reading progress — which scheduled readings you have marked as completed, and the date you completed them.
- Your notes — any personal notes you write and save in the app.
- Basic technical data — standard server logs (such as IP address and timestamps) generated when your device contacts our servers, used for security and reliability.
We do not collect contacts, photos, location, advertising identifiers, or any special category data.
How we use your information
- To create and secure your account, and to verify your email address.
- To generate your daily reading schedule and show your progress and streaks.
- To sync your progress and notes so they survive reinstalling the app.
- To send the reminders you set up, and essential account emails.
- To keep the service secure, diagnose faults and prevent abuse.
Legal basis
Where the GDPR applies, we process your data to perform our contract with you (providing the app you signed up for), on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and working, and — for anything optional such as reminders — on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in the app.
Bible text and offline reading
Bible translations are delivered from our servers to your device and stored there so you can read offline without a connection. That cached Scripture stays on your device and is removed when you delete the app.
Reading a passage does not send the passage anywhere. We know which readings you mark complete, because that is what powers your progress — nothing more.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of processors, each handling only what their job requires:
- Supabase — hosts our database, authentication and Bible content storage (servers in the EU).
- Vercel — hosts this website and our application programming interface.
- Resend — delivers verification and account emails.
We also use an AI service (OpenRouter) to check our Bible text data for typographical errors. This process reviews Scripture files only. No user data, notes or reading history is ever sent to any AI service.
We do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
- Account details, plans, progress and notes: for as long as your account exists.
- Verification codes: ten minutes, then deleted.
- Server logs: a short rolling period for security and troubleshooting.
- After you delete your account, the associated data is removed from our live systems; routine backups are overwritten on their normal cycle.
Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Passwords are hashed by our authentication provider. Access to your rows in our database is restricted at the database level so one account cannot read another’s data, and administrative tools require a separate administrator role. No system is perfectly secure, but we take these safeguards seriously and act quickly on any issue.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export or delete your information. Most of it you control directly in the app; for anything else, email us and we will respond within 30 days.
To erase everything at once, use our account deletion page. It permanently removes your account, plans, progress and notes straight away.
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to object to or restrict processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Bible Trip is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
International transfers
Our providers may process data in countries other than yours. Where data leaves the European Economic Area, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
Changes to this policy
If we make a material change we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use Bible Trip after a change means you accept the updated policy.
